Our Quiltgroup, the Rosesquilter from Zweibrücken, a joint project had planned for this year: The Winter Village Quilt by Edyta Sitar. The instructions for the quilt can be found on her side www.laundybasketquilts.com. Every month all participants were given two blocks to work on. It was very interesting to see, what you can do with a topic. Each of us brought their own fabrics with us: they were dyed ourselves or had already served as table decorations or had spent or were most of their lives as men's shirts, like me, just bought for this purpose .

I used to buy only a few, just a few fabrics, that`s how I`ve changed over the past few years, to buy whole collections. This saves you the laborious search for suitable fabrics and unis. Often it happened to me, I thought I had found the right fabrics. And at home I had to realize, to have once again hit the wrong color …

The Winter Village Quilt of Edyta is sewn in blue- and beige. I wanted to use fabrics from my stash for this project and I decided for the fabrics “Dream” by Markower UK.

The instructions for the quilt is very extensive. Each house is described clearly. The selection and cutting of the individual fabrics has taken more time than sewing the houses.

In August the time had come: the quilt was finished and ready to be quilted.

Birds and big snowflakes are still provided as applications in the actual instructions. At the sight of my finished quilts I knew, it was not a village in the winter. In search of a quilt pattern I found with www.sweetdreamsquiltstudio.com what I was looking for. With the pantograph “sparrowpano001” I have found the right pattern for me.

On the screen the sparrows were quickly spread over the quilt and here we go.

My quilt is certainly not a Winter Village Quilt….. more like a Sparrow Village quilt!
