A small Christmas Quilt
(This post includes unpaid advertising)
The stars and trees are quickly stitched together to form a small top.
Now it applies, to find the right quilting for me. The trees and the stars, I will emphasize with Rulers and fill the remaining surfaces with a Freemotion Quilting . I work almost exclusively with the Rulers of Amanda Murphy. They are not too big, they lie well under the hand and can be carried while quilting comfortable on the Rulerbase “also”. Another advantage is, that they are roughened on the bottom and therefore do not slip away. The markings on the Rulers are set in this way, that even distance can be easily met.
I would like to emphasize the star in the center of the top. With Rulers I will “trace the seams” and visually enlarge the star up to the tops of the trees with additional lines.
The trees themselves are accented with a simple seam. Via a small chain of circles, the outer stars are connected to the middle star. I would like to make these stars a bit smaller visually. With four inner circles, that overlap.
Now I'm filling all the open spaces with a Freemotion Quilting: Swirls, Circles und Pebbles, Daisies und Leaves…
This is the finished quilt:
With this kind of quilting I always find the back exciting!
So, Christmas can come!
