After a Longarm Q24 of Bernina moved into my sewing room, I soon started to practice using various patterns. From wavy lines and meanders, on shells and flowers to simple plumes. For that purpose, I equipped my machine with a navy blue fabric and worked with white thread. In order to get a feel for quilting with the Longarm, this was rather useful. But soon after , I decided to sew a mini-quilt. I wanted to see, how a quilted patterncan chance the appearance of a block.

In order to realise that 9 Fabric squares (10 "x10") from the Layer Cake "Rosa" by Moda decided and these with 9 white cotton squares (10 "x10") added.

To start the block, I place a coloured and a white piece on each other and sew them together, working with a seam allowance of 1/4" . Afterwards, the fabric-squares are cut diagonally using the rotary cutter.

The resulting triangles are ironed and positioned to form a square.

On my design wall I laid out the individual squares to form the following pattern and sewed them together:

Finally, the block is given two strips of white cotton each and is framed with a binding.

For the following quilting , I decided to work with a set of rulers. At the edges, I used a pebble- and meander design.

The finished quilt has a size of . 42“x42“ (106cm x 106cm). The individual quilt patterns you can watch here again. Do you want to rework the quilt? The pattern can be found here. Have fun.
